As a graduate of a famous university in London, I worked my way up to become Marketing Manager at a multinational corporation. I was earning an acceptable amount as an air-cond mechanic, but the economic downturn hit me hard. I was looking for a second job when a friend introduced me to a career with AIA. I joined them in 1995. At present, I own a Mercedes-Benz, a Toyota Camry, a double-storey home, and a luxury condominium. It seems that by helping people, I was also helping my own family. With the company's Starr Foundation Scholarship programme, both my children received sponsorships to universities in the US as well. It really shows when you have a job that pays off. I'm truly proud to be with a 'AAA' rated company which gives me full support, and to have made the decision that completely changed the quality of life for my family.

While working as an Account Manager at the Corporate Banking Division of a Bank, the idea of getting into the insurance business somehow excited me. I started off part-time and I really enjoyed meeting people, while the extra income was a handsome amount compared to the salary I was drawing then. In 1999, I left the bank to concentrate on the insurance business and I've not looked back since. It was indeed the most significant decision in my career. The truth is, it was not merely about being able to achieve my dreams like new cars, houses and overseas trips. That vital decision gave me a new lease of life. I was also overwhelmed by the amazing recognition and honour when I achieved the Top agent award in the country for 2000 and 2001, in addition to the string of prestigious awards in the 3 years that I have been with AIA. These memorable moments, I shall treasure for life.

I've had lots of good memories during my time at AIA. I remember one day, a life threatening situation made me think about my family, and whether they would be able to carry on if I didn't survive.
